Dr. Abdul-Hamid

Greetings, groetjes, saludos, Bon jour

Dr. Abdul was born in the Dominican Republic and raised on the island of St. Maarten. It was there that she first discovered her call to veterinary medicine, while working as a technician at a local animal clinic. She left home at the age of 19 to pursue her dreams in veterinary medicine. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2007. In 2011, she graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and practiced in Florida for 4 years as an emergency vet and shelter vet. Dr. Abdul relocated to the west plains and started teaching veterinary medicine to prospective veterinary technicians. At the close of the program, she found herself back in clinical practice at Above and Beyond Pet Care Hospital. Having experienced her fair share of hurricanes and the aftermath thereof, as well as knowing the need of a collective public health system, Dr. Abdul is currently pursuing a degree in Public Health at Texas Tech University and will be graduating Spring 2020. At the completion of this degree she intends to become board certified in veterinary preventive medicine. Dr. Abdul has brought that passion for public health, zoonotic and infectious disease awareness, and disease prevention to Above and Beyond Pet Care Hospital.

Dr. Abdul has three furry family members; a cat named Banana, a dog named Lulu (not Apple), and another cat Schnoodle Schnitzel. The majority of her free time is spent with her four children. When not with her kids you can find her painting, learning to play the guitar, learning French, practicing her Spanish fluency, and especially dancing. She has learned to two step since moving to Lubbock. An island girl at heart, the charm of the west plains has captivated her and her family and she hopes to serve you and your family with the warmth that she has been offered since relocating to Lubbock.
