The Above & Beyond Pet Care Hospital Story
Above and Beyond Pet Care Hospital was founded in 2004 by Dr. Jeanette Lubenau(1970-2014). Dr. J had practiced in the Lubbock area for over 10 years, and had decided there was a need for a hospital that practiced high quality medicine as we were trained to do in veterinary college. She took the leap, rented an office space at 98th and Indiana, and never looked back. It all began with one doctor and one technician. The practice continually grew. In her determination to practice excellent medicine and provide exceptional patient care, Above and Beyond attained American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation. This milestone put Above and Beyond in the top 14% of the veterinary hospitals in the nation regarding patient care and hospital standards. To this day, we are the only hospital on the South Plains that is AAHA accredited. In August 2009, with only two exam rooms, and 1,200 sq. feet of space to work with, the hospital quickly became very crowded and compact. We were literally stepping on each other trying to work. To remedy the crowding issue, it was time to move to a bigger home. Dr. J's dream was to build a facility that was not only fun to work in, but to be inviting to both pets and owners. In 2010, we moved into our new facility. It was scary at first, but ultimately, the best decision that could have been made. There have been growing pains, but the hospital has continued to thrive. We now have three full time doctors on staff and over 15 technicians. Upon reflection, it is amazing how one person's dream to be exceptional has spurred others on to do the same. Above and Beyond Pet Care Hospital will continue to strive to provide the best possible care for your pet and you.
What it means to be an AAHA Member
Above and Beyond Pet Care Hospital is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Since January 2006, we have regularly undergone evaluations by AAHA to ensure that we meet or exceed the association’s high quality standards of care. These standards cover nearly every aspect of our hospital, including surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, patient care, cleanliness, client service, emergency services, diagnostic imaging, and anesthesiology. Our most recent re-accreditation in 2018 demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards of veterinary care. With only 15% of animal hospitals in North America accredited, AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine.
