What constitutes an emergency? If your pet is bleeding, having trouble breathing, cannot walk or put any weight on a leg, has been hit by a car, has fallen from a tall height, is unconscious, has a seizure or fainting episode, vomits repeatedly or has the dry heaves, has a bloated or distended abdomen, eats something poisonous, chews up something dangerous, has an eye injury or cannot open an eye, cannot urinate or defecate, or has hard labor longer than a half hour. If you are not sure if your pet has an emergency, please call us (806) 792-7297 and a nurse or doctor will assist you in deciding.
Has your pet ingested something potentially dangerous? Please contact the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888) 425-4435 for further assistance. Be ready with:
- Your name, address, and phone number
- Details about the exposure
- The product container, if available
- Species, breed, age, sex, weight and number of pets involved
- Symptoms your pet is experiencing
